Welcome to the website of the Harlow, Essex KDS group. Karate-Do Shotokai (KDS) is a traditional karate style which focuses purely on the practice of karate as a martial art.
We run a friendly, social club where questions are encouraged and everyone is allowed to get the very best out of themselves – all in the spirit of developing quality karate practitioners. If you want to find out more then come along to one of our regular weekly practices. Our sessions are open to men and women of all ages and abilities.
Our instructors are all highly experienced and qualified and we run a small club to ensure every student gets direct, personal practice with us each and every lesson. Our senior instructor, 4th Dan Adrian Quick has taught Karate in Harlow since 1989.
The first lesson is free and no previous experience is required. All you need to practise is a t-shirt and tracksuit trousers! All are welcome!

Various congratulations for the club
It's always nice to reward hard work within the club and at last night's club session we got to do it three times.
So congratualtions are in order for Ben Puckey who graded up to 3rd Kyu (Green) and Helen Smith who is now 5th Kyu (Yellow).
And also a big well done to Ben Redwood for a stonking array of A's and A*'s in his GCSEs. Who was it that said that KDS was the thinking man's karate again?

London KDS course 2010 details
The London club would like to invite all members of the KDS to a national course to be held at Brunel University in Uxbridge the weekend of the 25th - 26th of September. We look forward to seeing you all for the first UK national course after Summer School! Venue Brunel University Sports Centre, http://maps.google.co.uk/maps... Times Saturday 25th September 1:00PM - 2:00PM (Dan grades only) Cost One day only: £20 A £5 discount will apply to all student/non-waged members. Social There will be an evening social to be held within the Uxbridge area. The exact details will be confirmed shortly. It would be helpful if club instructors could give some indication of numbers for the social in advance of the course weekend. Accommodation For those wishing to stay within the local area there is a variety of accommodation available within the Uxbridge area.
